21 Days into 2010 and its Already Looking Fresher and Brighter

I hate saying this but I must admit.. 2009 was the year of mixed fortunes!!  Many companies, banks, financial institutions were in news but for “not-so great” reasons.  Both the overseas and the Indian market saw lot of low points. Many companies who were on a high point, suddenly collapsed like a pack of cards. Almost every single day especially in the later half of the year was a nightmare, almost everyone from investors, to employees, vendors, to bankers had sleepless nights not knowing how cope up with a collapse of such magnitude.

Quite a few companies tried to take advantage of this situation, shifting focus on cost rationalization and bringing about innovativeness in their business.  Soon, cost efficiency and focus on Customer delight became every company’s mantra.  And this mantra proved to yield great results.  Cost cutting resulted in immediate results because they could stay afloat and diverting focus on Customer delight through the path of innovation while maintaining the competitive spirit. Not only could companies salvage their business but they could even spot the heroes and the champions within their business who have made a difference by thinking “out of the box”.

Suddenly every one started talking about things looking better towards the end of 2009. Signs of recovery seem to be every where.  Companies have built their defenses against this phenomenon; they have started hiring, though still as a part of Resource Rationalization, Companies have revived focus on Employee Engagement and Retention.

Things are surely looking up!! 2010 started on a wonderfully fresh and bright note.  The emphasis of every company remains to be Innovation, Employee Satisfaction, Customer Delight and of course Cost Correction.  With this renewed focus, things are looking for a great jump start.   Markets are already opening up, customers are willing to spend , though still slightly conservatively.  The good news is everyone has started looking at 2010 with a great amount of hope and loads of optimism!!

So am I!!  Hoping 2010 continues to remain fresh and bright all throughout…
